BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson predicts a two-nil home win for the Hammers tonight against Burnley at the London Stadium.

Lawro told his BBC website readers  “Burnley have been hit hard by more injuries, with defender Ben Mee (thigh) and midfielder Jack Cork (ankle) potentially out for the rest of the season. The Clarets have not got much depth to their squad right now, for various reasons, and I think West Ham will move a little closer to safety with a win here.

I always thought the Hammers’ players were too good to be where they are in the table. It looks like they have managed to find the right formula at the right time.”

West Ham will wait to put more distance between themselves and the relegation zone in what could be an important week in their bid for survival.

A rare win for Watford last night over bottom club Norwich City put them on the same points as West Ham separated only by a goal difference of four.

It was Watford’s first win since February when they beat Liverpool 3-0 ina freak result.

A win against Burnley tonight and another win against Norwich City City this Saturday would mean West Ham are virtually guaranteed of survival on 37 points.

Norwich will be relegated if they lose against the Hammers this weekend leaving Bournemouth and Aston Villa needing to win four of their remaining five games to have a chance of survival. A tall order since neither side has won since January and February also.
