Rafa Benetiz is likely to price himself out of a move back to the Premier League from China Claret and Hugh has learned this afternoon.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle manager has a £15m buy out clause on his current contract with Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang and would want at least £8m per year on a three year contract to move back to the U.K.

With Steve Bruce currently achieving results better than Benetiz in charge of Newcastle United questions need to be asked whether the Spaniard would be an upgrade on Manuel Pellegrini if the West Ham manager position were to become available in the future.

With an investment of a £39m to land the 59-year-old West Ham is likely to look elsewhere should a replacement be required.

Benitez is covering the West Ham v Arsenal game tonight as a guest Sky Sports presenter but he will not be stepping a foot into the London Stadium tonight and instead will remain 17 miles away at the Sky Sports studios in Isleworth.
