West Ham have announced that Kurt Zouma has received surgery on a knee injury.

The central defender was subbed during the first half of the game against Leicester City after feeling uncomfortable during the warm up.

At the time we were told that the problem was with the knee that has troubled him since his days at Chelsea but it was believed that he would be available for selection after the break from Premier League action.

The club has put no time limit on his likely absence but say he will now continue his rehabilitation at Rush Green with the club’s medical team.

It’s another big defensive blow for the Irons with Nayef Aguerd only just returning to action and Angelo Ogbonna still trying to recover the form he was in before his own long absence from injury.

And of course, should Zouma be out for an extended period the club may decide they can’t allow Craig Dawson to move on in January.
