Slaven Bilic has revealed there was no “on the carpet” meeting with David Sullivan following the Newcastle defeat and that he has never been told his job is under threat.

The mainstream media had declared that he had been summoned to a special meeting with the co chairman although ClaretandHugh claimed through its own sources that it never happened but had merely spoken on the normal daily basis.

And at this afternoon’s (Fri) presser the boss said: “I didn’t talk to the chairman at a special meeting. We talk after every game. He knows and I know we haven’t started well. It (Newcastle) was bad and unacceptable – a very low point.

“I have to raise the performance and get us back on the right track. I’ve never been told my job is on the line. I’ve told you this so many times. I don’t think about my job that way. Mine is a good job – talking to the lads and being with the lads.”

And he added that he had put the William Carvalho saga behind him adding: “We showed last year in difficult situations that we have the courage and character to get of of this. We did it then and can do it now.”
