Slaven Bilic is deseprate for an Andy Carroll return.

The manager has chosen to discuss his attitude towards the injury-ravaged AC despite the striker apparently being nowhere near a comeback.

He has likened him to  Diego Costa or Romelu Lukaku as a player who can change games and added: “I have a lot of feelings for Andy,” Bilic admitted.

He said: “I don’t hide it. I love Andy Carroll. Every time he has started or come off of the bench, he has been brilliant for us.

“It’s virtually impossible to mark him in the box and even outside the box he is brilliant also.”

And whilst the manager is banking on a fit-again Carroll to keep the Irons’ revival going he added: “I know he’s got a history – maybe it’s my mistake.

“When you want someone, you are hoping, always looking at the positive things… ‘He’s going to be alright’.

“I’m hoping he’s going to be back in a few weeks. We miss him.

“You see the impact that players like Romelu Lukaku or Diego Costa have on a game.

“They are changing the whole game – and Andy Carroll is like that for us.”
