Bookies cut odds of Defoe return

Bookmakers have slashed the odds of Jermain Defoe rejoining West Ham from 5/1 to 15/8 in recent days amid constant speculation.

The Hammers remain the clear favourites but Crystal Palace have been installed as second favourites and former Irons boss Sam Allardyce would love to steal a deal from under his ex-club’s noses given half a chance.

Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Bournemouth are all claimed to be interested even though Sunderland say they have no intention of selling and will attempt to hold their star player to his three and a half year contract.
