Blackburn boss Jon Dahl Tomasson has suggested that Ben Brereton Diaz could leave the club this summer.

The Chile international has been heavily linked with a potential exit from the Ewood Park club.

The Hammers are keeping tabs on the player’s future and could potentially table a bid for the player before the summer is out.

Of course, the Irons are trying to sign Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo, and also have interest in Chelsea’s Armando Broja, but Diaz is seen as a potential back-up target.

He was in exceptional form last season, scoring 22 times in the Championship, as Blackburn launched a promotion push, only to fall away in the final few months of the season.

Tomasson has been appointed as Blackburn boss this summer and he has said that he would like to keep the player at the club, though he accepts that may not be possible.

He told Sky Sports, via Lancs Live“Ben is a great player and clubs want great players. At the moment he’s a Blackburn Rovers player and he’ll do well for Rovers. I have a great relationship with the boy, I’m enjoying seeing him on the grass every day doing the best for the club, for the team and he’s a great player.

“Of course I would love him to stay but I understand how football works. Great players come and go.”
