West Ham Vice-Chairman Karen Brady has defended the London Stadium after coming under fire on social media.

The Twitter exchange started after the Baroness published an article saying Richard Branson’s company Virgin should not receive a government bailout as he pays no UK personal tax. A West Ham supporter taunted Brady by saying “But you was alright with the taxpayer paying for West Ham to move to the London stadium even though we had a nice home already”

Brady fired back “London Stadium was not built for West Ham United it was built for the Olympics & faced being empty until West Ham United  paid millions towards conversion millions in rent & millions in revenue ie catering/beer 54k ST holders 10k are kids paying on average @£4 a Premier League match cheapest in London cheapest in Premier League”
Told that the London Stadium was not fit for football by another supporter Brady replied “Recent independent poll of all 91 professional clubs suggests otherwise as we came top in the PL being awarded”
“The best-rated team for matchday experience was West Ham United””We surveyed football fans on what factors they think are most important for an amazing matchday experience and then crunched the numbers for every team in the English football league to find the league-leading matchday experiences”. WHU came out top.”
Trolled about the £2.5m rent West Ham pay for the London Stadium the first lady of football said “Actually it is now much more than the original base rate of £2.5m a year and in the first three seasons at London Stadium West Ham United matches generated £17.3m in catering/beer sales from our games….we are paying our way, and as we are all British taxpayers we are pleased to be doing so” adding “and don’t forget we paid millions in a one-off lump sum towards the conversion of the stadium before we moved in. & with 60k capacity let thousands of families attend matches with cheapest available Season Ticket prices in the Premier League – 2nd highest attendance in the PL, 7th Highest in Europe”
