West Ham Vice-Chairman Karren Brady has given Manuel Pellegrini a huge vote of confidence in her Sun newspaper column

Brady writes in today’s red top tabloid “It’s in the rough times that great leaders inspire, bring cohesion and dig deep to turn things around. The art of great leadership is the ability to show resilience, steel and determination in the face of tough times.

The Premier League is the most competitive league in the world and that’s one of the reasons it’s the global phenomenon that it is.

It’s why we love it so much!

We have seen time and again, including this season, that a few positive results and a run of form can propel teams up the table, especially as only five points separates 17th position and sixth.

Thoughts that the top of the Premier League is as unchanging as, say Everest, are being seriously tested.

Closer to home at West Ham, it goes without saying that right now we aren’t where we want to be or, frankly, where we expected to be .

But we’re all firmly committed to turning things around.

Manuel Pellegrini is a proven winner in this league with an unshakable determination.

Everyone is behind him to bring about a change of fortunes and we all know he and the team are capable of doing just that.

We have a strong squad having invested £200million in the past 18 months and have proved, not that long ago, that we can beat any team on our day.

There’s no doubt that to get back to winning ways we need to show the spirit so widely associated with our great club, personified by so many of the great players who have worn the claret and blue.  We all need to find our back bone and, most of all, we have to stick together.”
