Brady hits the financial big time

West Ham Vice-Chairman Karren Brady has become the fourth highest Premier League executive with a package of £2.22m for last season which included a £1m bonus for new investor, Czech Billionaire Daniel Kretinksy.

This is the third bonus Brady earned while at West Ham, having earned sums for introducing Tripp Smith and moving to the London Stadium in 2016.

Her basic is thought to be £1.24m, which is around what she is likely to have earned this season. ranking her ninth in the list above.

Accorsing to 6foot2.co.uk David Sullivan and David Gold revealed they were paying Karren Brady out of their own pockets for the first six months when they took over the club.

The West Ham 2011 financial accounts show the club paid the Hammers Vice Chairman £256,000 for the first time.

That  increased to £427,000 in 2012 and then hiked to a massive £1.634m in 2013, of which £1m was a bonus paid over 5 years for winning the bid to move to the London Stadium. In 2014 her basic rose by just £2,000 to £636,000, rising by a further £10,000 to £646,000 in 2015.

2016 saw another big rise to £907,000 before a slight decrease in 2017 to £868,000.

2018 was another bumper year with a base salary of £898,00 plus a consultant fee of £438,000 paid to a company controlled by Brady for introducing Tripp Smith as an investor making her annual total £1.336m. In 2019 her pay rose from £898,000 to £1.136m, a rise of 27% for that season.

In 2020 her pay was reduced to £1,027m during the pandemic before increasing again to £1.331m in 2021; last season, we saw her pay rise to £2.24m, including a £1m bonus.

Up to the end of last season, Brady’s total pay has reached nearly £12.5m (£12,432,000), with another £1.3m estimated this season to bring the total cost to £14m over twelve and a half years.
