Brighton will be without defender Shane Duffy, who has a groin strain, while Davy Propper is also out with a thigh problem. Steve Sidwell is a long-term absentee, and is not set to be back in action until November due to a back injury.

Striker Tomer Hemed is serving the final game of a three-match ban, having been found guilty of violent conduct for an apparent stamp on right-back DeAndre Yedlin during the Seagulls’ 1-0 win over Newcastle.

West Ham won both league games the last time these two sides met, including a rememberable 6-0 home win in the 2011-12 Championship season.  Brighton have only won one of their seven league visits to West Ham (D2 L4) – a 1-0 win in the Championship in November 2004. The Hammers have won both of their previous home Premier League games on a Friday by a 1-0 scoreline – against Coventry in December 1997 and Spurs last season.

Brighton Predicted starting XI: Ryan; Bruno, Hunemeier, Dunk, Suttner; Knockhaert, Stephens, Dropper, March; Gross, Murray
