Byram: No Leeds loan back

Sam Byram is currently at West Ham tying up the final details of his move to the club from Leeds United.

The right back will undergo a medical and is set to become a West Ham player later today or tomorrow as the club continues to make their ambitions very public in the transfer market.

ClaretandHugh understands too that Byram will not – as has been suggested – be loaned back to Leeds for the remainder of the season which suggests that a player may be on the way out given wage considerations.

Mauro Zarate and Nikicia Jelavic are the likely candidates although the club made it clear to us yesterday they will not entertain the loan deals offered for the Argentinian, leaving the striker as the most likely departure.

Byram was born in Essex and is understood to come from a Hammers-supporting family which – after we had offered the same personal terms as Everton – made his decision to join the club pretty simple.

Our top source told ClaretandHugh: “We want to ensure that we do a very thorough assessment of him. We know he’s a very good player of course but want to look at all aspects of his abilities and we can only do that if he’s with us.”
