Sam Byram has suffered a slight knock and will not start tomorrow David Gold has confirmed on twitter tonight.

Asked whether Byram would start against Villa tomorrow Gold replied:

“Sadly, No. Small injury. dg”

However, Gold did have some good news saying that James Tomkins was included in the squad and Cheikou Kouyate had a 50% chance of making the squad.

Gold posted: “Hard to believe but James Tomkins is in the squad for tomorrow’s game against Aston Villa after receiving 13 stitches in his forehead. dg”  On Kouyate he said: “He’s 50/50 but I’m hopeful he will make it. dg”

He also confirmed Reece Oxford will be tomorrow’s squad by tweeting:

“I don’t know if he will play tomorrow but he’s in the squad. (Reece Oxford) dg”

To signal the end of the January transfer window Gold confirmed it was now safe to go to bed

“Our press officer Paul Stringer has just rung me to say that our club secretary is about to leave. So I assume it’s safe ‘to go to bed’. dg”
