West Ham’ TOTAL spending will be heading towards the £200 million should they complete a deal for Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

There can be few complaints from anywhere at the amount of cash the club is piling into the summer window as David Moyes starts his rebuild of a squad which was badly in need of new arrivals.

We understand the Hammers have thus far offered around £40 million for Paqueta which will probably have to rise by another £5 million plus extras with the French club wanting around £55 million to £60 million.

Hopefully such a compromise is on the cards as like every other deal agents fees have to be paid which pushes the price of deals higher and higher.

Thus far Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes, Maxwel Cornet, Thilo Kehrer, Emerson and Gianluca Scamacca have arrived at a cost of around £120 million.

Add Paqueta at around £50 million plus those agents’ fees and we are close to or have hit £200 million.

So the money has been stumped up by GSBK and all that needs to be seen is whether it has been spent wisely by Moues and Newman which we will discover over the next few months.
