Amid widespread rumours of another bid going in – with one or two sites claiming it would be of £37 million – ClaretandHugh has been told categoically this morning: “That is not going to happen.”
“As a result of course there can be no further bids. It would need a dramatic change of heart by the player and that is seriously unlikely to happen .”
The general feeling inside the club is that Lacazette has used the Hammers interest in the hope that Paris St Germain will move in with a serious bid as it is widely believed this is the club he wants.
However, in fairness to the player he has never made any secret of the fact that he wants Champions League football and the message has now been relayed to the Hammers in order to finally end the speculation.
We were told: “We could have done no more but you can’t persuade a player who appears to have made his mind up. IT remains with him but there will be no further bids.”
