Andy Carroll headed stright for Spire Roding hospital on Thursday morning after feeling some discomfort in his groin following the first close season run outs in America.

ClaretandHugh has learned that the big striker is still conceerned about the issue and was checked out immediately on his return from the match against Carolina Railhawks.

With Diafra Sakho refusing to go on the close season tour to Austria as he tries to force through a transfer and Enner Valencia a possible target for either Lazio or Swansea, a possible Carroll problem will become a real worry to manager Slaven Bilic.

We were told: “It seems Andy  is still worried by some discomfort in that area and my understanding is that he had a preautionary scan when he was at Spire Roding on Thursday. We’ll see here it goes from here as we prepare for the next close season tour. Hopefully it will all be fine.”
