With  Andy Carroll out of  the weekend FA Cup clash at Blackburn, ClaretandHugh blogger Peter Ellis has taken a look at his injury ravaged West Ham career. Here are his findings.
Since permanently signing for the club AC l has played in a total of 44 league games out of a possible 102 (including sub appearances) – a return of 44%
In those 44 league games, he has scored 10 goals.
His wages are reported to be around the £80k mark.
Since joining West Ham (initially on loan) he has earned £14,484,802 at time of writing. On top of a fee of £17.5m (after West Ham paid Liverpool various bonuses) that amounts to £31.9m in wages and fee.
His loan spell was actually his best with the club, as he featured in 24 out of a possible 36 appearances (he played twice for Liverpool) with 7 goals.
Adding both the loan and permanent spells equates to 138 possible games, with him playing in 68 of them, scoring in 17 games.
In short he hits the net 25% of the time he has played.
Remove the loan period and its just a tad over 22%.
So since he first put on a West Ham shirt, each goal has cost £1,876,47.
Those are the numbers.
