Carroll will cost Irons between £40-£45m

Andy Carroll will have cost West Ham United between £40-£45 million should he complete his six year contract at the club.

The Hammers never officially disclosed his fee it emerged that the speculated £15 million was in fact £16.5 million.

But according to The Telegraph the total figure to acquire Carroll is actually £17.5 million because West Ham had to pay Liverpool an extra £1m bonus on avoiding relegation last season.

And the Telegraph report concludes that given  Carroll signed a six-year deal at West Ham and earns £90,000 a week, the overall cost of the package for the England international has risen to more than £45 million.
