West Ham fans are split right down the middle over whether the Hammers should move in on Sporting Lisbon’s defensive midfielder William Carvahlo.

This time last year the club was involved in a highly charged and bitter battle with the Portuguese club which resulted in supposed e mails being made public, insults thrown  from Lisbon to London and the threat of legal actions being issued.

Sporting wanted £43 million for the player and in our latest poll we asked fans to vote on whether the 26 year old should be bought this summer based on what he showed for his international side in the World Cup epic game against Spain.

And the result came out as the closest of any of our polls so far with the only a tiny majority believing we should go for it.

A total of 896 votes were cast by those who want him to sign (50.68 per cent) and 872 (49.32 per cent) against a move.
