Former West Ham transfer target William Carvalho got a mixed reception from the game of the World Cup tournament so far as he featured in the thrilling 3-3 draw between Portugal and Spain last night.

Some Hammers fans thought Carvalho was impressive and solid in the defensive midfield role and suggested Pellegrini should sign up the free agent as soon as possible.

However, other West Ham supporters were less kind about his World Cup performance. He was described as slow and pedestrian at times and only capable of five to ten-yard passes while some fans said he just wouldn’t be able to cut the pace in the Premier League.

Possibly the unkindness comment about the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder by one Irons supporter was to describe him as a ‘Fat Mark Noble’.
