Chelsea defender could be a smoke screen for real target

Reports that West Ham are close to signing Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma are likely to be a smokescreen to hide their real central defensive target.

Yesterday, Sky revealed the Hammers were in for the Chelsea man but Claret and Hugh understand that he is not the priority target and more of an option within a number of potentials defenders available on the transfer market. It appears Chelsea are currently more keen on a potential deal than the Hammers as it stands.

We know that West Ham have been busy actively working on two deals in the past week, one of them was Alphonse Areola who signed on loan from PSG yesterday but the other still remains a mystery.

One report has suggested that David Moyes is prioritising Fiorentina central defender Nikola Milenkovic.

The 23-year-old was in excellent form for Fiorentina last season. The 6ft 5in colossus made 37 appearances throughout the 2020-21 season. In four years since his move from Partizan Belgrade, he has played a huge 133 times for Fiorentina.

According to Fabrizio Romano, he is available for 15 million Euros (£12.75m)
