Javier Hernandez will wear the No. 17 shirt for West Ham it was revealed last night as his favourite number 14 is occupied by Pedro Obiang. The Mexican opted for the number 17 on his back instead.

In a Spanish language article on WHUFC.com Chicharito explained his love of the number 14 but said he has done equally well with other numbers.

“It is important to me because it is my favorite number but I already played with the number 7 in Leverkusen and I did very well. I have always said that the player makes the number. Thank God I did very well with number 14 and that’s why everyone knows me with that number. I would love to have it, but if you can not have everything, I’ll see what number I can choose.
