West Ham fans still don’t know whether they will face the prospect of a Christmas Eve match following  a meeting at which the issue was discussed with an independent fans organisation.

Instead the PL appear to be hedging their bets and there has to be a possibly they will arriveat some sort of fudged compromise by telling Football Supporters’ Federation no games on the 24th will kick off  later than 4.00pm.

The group said the league’s chief executive Richard Scudamore had told them so at a meeting and that that fixtures including Arsenal v Liverpool nd possibly the Hammers and Newcastle could be moved from 23 September to Christmas Eve for TV.

MP Tom Watson had written to Scudamore urging him to reconsider the proposals. In it he said:  “There’s a real danger that some travelling fans would not be able to get home until the early hours of Christmas Day, whilst hundreds of stadium staff and workers would be expected to work rather than spending time with their families at this time of year.”

According to the FSF, Scudamore also said no games will kick off on Sunday mornings or evenings, while more midweek and bank holiday games will be broadcast on TV.
