Come on Moysie – what’s the big secret?

David Moyes’ obsession with doing things secretly is now a given and understandable .

In the days before internet, social media and official websites, news gathering was the preserve of newspapers and broadcasting .

Obtaining player quotes has become off limits with club media departments looking after that side of things in order to ensure nothing untoward gets out there, as is much else.

The result – as we all know – is that player quotes on official websites are now as bland as it gets.

I understand completely why he doesn’t want team selections named before games or news of injuries to escape.

I get to why he doesn’t want names of players he may be interested in during transfer windows becoming known.

It’s his job to ensure other clubs don’t latch on although I don’t believe ,any would be checking websites in a bid to find out anyway!

But when – as yesterday – he claims that in doing things properly, details of an updated player contract won’t be given  my immediate question in “Why on earth not – surely the fans like to know and what harm does it do??”

He was referring to Michail Antonio’s well publicised extension but added that two others had been agreed some time back whilst failing to say whose.

None of our insiders understood to whom he was referring with apparently only Coufal and Mikey having been involved in such situations.

If there are others could we please know who Moysie and if you aren’t prepared to reveal the names may we ask why and ask what harm it would do?

Ok I understand we too have vested interests here but I really don’t get the players contracts thing at all and wonder why he should mention it if it’s such a big deal.

Or – to quote a former comic who many will remember – Bruce Forsythe  is it more a case – of adopting the catchphrase: “I’m in charge.”
