Confusion remains over the West Ham board’s role in transfer dealings following the dismissal of Tony Henry over racism claims.

The former head of recruitment by use of the word “we” when explaining he would not sign African players left the impression such a policy was supported by the club.

West Ham rapidly  denied that was the case insisting the board does not get involved in identifying potential signings.

And  Jacob Steinberg in the Guardian used the same words saying: “West Ham have denied that is the case, insisting the board does not get involved in identifying potential signings”

However,  in West Ham’s financial accounts dated 7th October 2016  vice chairman Karren Brady’s statement seemingly contradicted that saying of transfers “David Sullivan is in charge of this operation, and in effect takes a Football Director role in helping to select and negotiate all football transfers.”

Last Summer Brady told Sky Sports’ Debate show said:  ‘My chairman is working 20 hours a day getting very little sleep, taking phone calls, morning, noon and night.

He’s doing all of that to try and improve things for West Ham. It’s an incredibly stressful situation. I don’t deal with agents, my poor chairman has to deal with them’
