David Moyes – despite having bought left sided Maxwel Cornet – is likely to still be looking for an out and out left back before the summer window slams shut in just over three weeks time.

For the £17 million signing from Burnley has made it clear that despite being pretty versatile on the left side, his preferred position is in an attacking role.

And with Aaron Cresswell having clearly reached his ceiling as our left back it surely means a full time left sided defender is now seriously required.

Various names have been thrown into the mix but Moyes has a real job on his hand with the clock ticking on the window with a new central defender required along it seems with a midfielder also being on his agenda.

Cornet has been explaining how and where he likes to play and it’s clear that defensive duties are low on his list of priorities.

He explained to West Ham TV :“Just score goals, just play on the front. For me it’s the position to score goals, so (that’s my preferred position).

In 61 games as a left winger, Cornet has scored 22 goals and laid on nine assists. And in 54 games on the right wing, the number 14 has managed 19 goals and 10 assists. At centre-forward Cornet has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 33 games.
