Coufal in swipe at Moyes tactics

Vladimir Coufal has launched a stinging attack on West Ham’s tactics, which he believes resulted in the Hammers losing 4-3 against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle. The defender spoke directly to West Ham’s TV channel, and the video must be seen to truly comprehend how irritated and disappointed the player was.

The right-back didn’t hold back with scathing criticism of the team’s tactics. Much like the previous Premier League game against Aston Villa, West Ham had the opposition on the ropes only to surrender the impetus by removing Michail Antonio.

Coufal said, “When we got to 3-1, we just stopped playing, we just sat back and waited for them to score. We just waited and waited and then let them in.”

Coufal took a swipe at Moyes tactics by accusing the team of sitting back and waiting to concede.

These are damning words indeed from a member of the team. Let’s be clear about this, Coufal was absolutely awful against Newcastle. He was given a torrid time by both Harvey Barnes and Antony ‘kick my leg’ Gordon, but he never stopped trying.

What is evident is that Coufal is clearly pointing to the second substitution which changed the flow of the game from a West Ham attacking performance into absolute capitulation. The Czech defender’s comments weren’t directly critical of Moyes’ changes, but reading between the lines, he’s not impressed.
