Crunch day for current and former Irons

So welcome to the latest six pointer of our already beleaguered season.

Whichever manager loses this relegation tussle between West Ham and Everton at the London Stadium could very likely be picking up their P45 on Monday morning.

David (matinee idol) Moyes’s spell at Goodison Park created his reputation whilst Frank Lampard is returning to the club where he made his name as a player. Oh the IRON…ry.

To compound matters further, if Lampard does get the chop, Moyes is in the frame to replace him. Crazy, eh!

Nevertheless, it is a nice change to write about a club who are in a worse state than we are at the moment. Eight defeats, two draws and a solitary win is their contribution to their points tally.

If there was ever a time to kick start our season, this it.

As reported elsewhere on Claret and Hugh, Gianluca Scamacca is out though with a knee issue (picked up in training apparently), Areola may be on the bench after his recovery from a groin injury, but Maxwel Cornet is seemingly still locked in the physio`s room with his troublesome calf.

It will be interesting to see if our new signing Ings will feature in the starting XI, as the normal policy for new players is to let them warm the bench for a bit. By the way, I understand that Mr Ings is a bit of a penalty whizz having converted 13 out of the 14 he has taken. And as the referee is the card happy Stuart Atwell….

Let us hope, that at last we start playing as we should do and on a poignant afternoon remembering the irreplaceable David Gold, we finally/about time/ thrash them (delete where necessary) get a precious three points in the bag.
