D-Day Dawns and it could be so special

So here we are at D Day after 14 months of blood sweat and tears from manager, backroom staff, players and squad.

And let’s not forget us long suffering fans who have been marginalised for too long in during the various lockdown.

We may have been only able to view from our living rooms but the enthusiasm and passion is still so incredibly evident – just read the forums.

Today 10,000 of them will be welcomed back into the London Stadium as we go for Europe.

We need that point as badly almost as badly as any we have earned in our fights against relegation.

An appearance in the Euro Conference League would be scant reward for the mighty efforts put in by the squad.

Southampton will do their very best to spoil the party and there’s a danger that tension could creep into our game.

There’s no reason for that. This season has been magical and we want every player selected to go out and enjoy the 90 minutes to the absolute limits and leave nothing out there.

Here’s the starting X1 likely to be told to do that: Randolph, Coufal, Ogbonna, Dawson, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek, Benrahma, Fornals, Lingard and Antonio.

Nor would I be surprised if Mark Noble were to get a cameo appearance towards the end.
