The Southampton striker is into the final year of his current deal at St Mary’s, and was presented with a package that would have made him the highest-paid player in the Saint’s history but he opted to knock it back. Ings rejected Southampton’s offer as he wants to move to a top six club the Athletic claimed.
He has been linked to the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United but none of them has made a formal move for him as yet.
He has also been heavily linked to Spurs who finished outside the top six but Levy is said to be concerned over his wage demands within their strict wage structure
Ings scored 12 goals in 29 Premier League games last season. In total, Ings has netted 46 goals in 100 appearances for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
If a Manchester club doesn’t come for Ings maybe Moyes could make a late bid for the proven forward with Southampton perhaps prepared to lower their price to £25mor less to avoid their striker leaving for free next summer.
