Gold guarantees a calm evening
He says a number of measures have been introduced since the troublesome EFL Cup night and adds that in his view the troubles were overblown in the first place by the media.
Gold told the Daily Star: “I can guarantee it won’t happen again, we have put into effect a number of processes. Let me say also I think its was over blown in the first place”
The five point plan still in place is:
- Create more distance between opposing fans to prevent missile throwing by widening segregation.
- Remove risk groups from the stadium permanently with a zero-tolerance banning policy.
- Build higher barriers and a ten-metre-wide area of segregation on the lower concourse walkway.
- Segregate fans as they exit using a physical barrier either side of the away turnstiles.
- Issue a group of stewards with video cameras. Stewards currently have cameras on their armour but West Ham hope this will act as a clear and visible deterrent.
Although there was initial talk of two hundred supporters from both clubs receiving stadium bans from that night in October, thirty four bans were issued in total.
