David Moyes is worried about Angelo Ogbonna after he came off injured during yesterday’s victory over Fulham at the London Stadium.

The West Ham manager told reporters he is worried about the centre back telling the reporters  “We’re a little bit worried about Angelo.”

Moyes confirmed that the 32-year-old overstretched a  bit causing him to strain his groin area.

The manager explained: “Because it was a challenge in the box where I don’t think the player should have made the challenge on the goalkeeper and it has opened his groin up a bit so we’ll get him scanned and see what the outcome is.”

Ogbonna is set for a scan on Monday but club insiders still hope the growing strain will prove to be minor and they hope we will be fit again to face Sheffield United after an International break-in 14 days time.  Ogbonna was recalled into the Italian squad recently but that now won’t happen.

Claret and Hugh say:

Angelo Ogbonna is very important to West Ham but we do have Issa Diop and Craig Dawson who has been impressing in training in reserve. Groin strains can be tricky so let’s hope he is not rushed back too soon. He will be gutted to miss out on his recall to Italy and his frustration was shown when he stormed down the tunnel. Get well soon Angelo!
