Declan Rice has made it clear he wants to sign a long term deal for the Hammers!

He appears to have had enough of the stalemate which has hung like a shadow over the club this season and he has finally made his position clear,

The 19 year old – in whom the Hammers have invested so much time whilst he has been growing up through the academy – chose to make his decision known in The Times.

And the relief is palpable after the 19 year old made his feelings known in news which will bring amazing joy throughout the fan base.

There has been a long term impasse on the issue but Dec has declared that as far as he is concerned the deal is set to be done.

He said: “I want to sign for West Ham and I think it is going to happen. Playing every week is what’s best for m at the moment and hopefully the contract can come soon.”

CandH’s View

Fantastic news and what we have been waiting to hear for months but no doubt one or two out there will leap on the words: “Hopefully the contract can come soon!”

DON’T, because it’s unlikely he would have gone this far without talking to his advisers and it’s quite clear that he wants to stay precisely where he is anyway. At West Ham United.

Over the last few months this young man has shown that he has everything required to become a future Irons skipper and it’s a huge relief to at long last have his thoughts on the record.

CandH has been told for a long time by senior sources at the club by e mail, phone and in personal conversation, that “all he wants to do is play first team football every week rather than be at a top six club where his chances will be limited. He is also West Ham through and through.”

Now he has made his decision and we await the formalities – let’s just hope this isn’t dragged on longer than necessary now the cat is out of the bag
