Deschamps takes a pop at Payet

Blimey – talk about washing your dirty linen in public!

Former Chelsea player turned manager of the French team Didier Deschamps decided to take a right pop at Dimitri Payet today and probably told us more about him than the nature of the Irons playmaker.

After Dimi had dared to question his exclusion from recent French squad DD decided to give it the big one suggesting that there may indeed be a problem in his thinking – and definitely approach.

Here’s the full text of his very French retort and there’s not an oo la la anywhere:

“It does not bother me, the players can say what they want. I will not pour myself over the media in order to respond to them.

This is not the first time or the last time. He is in training, I speak with him and tell him what I expect of him on the pitch. After that he understands, either he does it or he doesn’t do it

He has the right not to understand, that is not my problem. Dimitri is a quality player, who performs well for his clubs. He is good in a certain position and I am here to judge.

For France, the demands are greater. Everyone deserves a shot in life. But I do not have only lambs. I have players with character.”

As yet Deschamps has won nothing for France during his time in charge.
