David Gold has confirmed that the famous World Cup statue will be taken to our new home in Stratford.

Several Twitter followers were concerned that the iconic statue (pictured above) would be left behind but Mooro and the boys will be given a place of honour with the OS.

Commenting on Twitter the co chairman said: “The World Cup statue will becoming with us to the new stadium. dg”

The work is a one-and-a-half times life-size bronze piece, 16 feet (4.9 m) tall and weighing four tonnes and has stood at the junction of Barking Road and Green Street since 2003.

At the time it was unveiled Paul Hayward, writing in The Telegraph described it as “stunning”, and that it “radiates golden light and transforms a mundane road junction into a shrine both to England’s finest hour and West Ham’s contribution to the game in these isles”
