DG: “We will appeal Kouyate’s red card”

David Gold has tonight confirmed the club plan to appeal Chiek Kouyate’s red card.

The all-action Irons midfielder was sent off after the referee adjudged that he was guilty of a trip which denied Blackburn the opportunity of  goal scoring opportunity.

But to put it mildly it was a decision which was highly dubious at best as TV replays cleared showed the ball was out of Adam Henley’s control at the time!

Indeed the TV pundits seemed convinced the player’s chance of scoring had gone and that Darren Randolph would have had little problem in coming out of his goal and saving.

Gold has made it clear the club will definitely be involved in an appeal tweeting over the last few minutes when asked by a follower: “Yes we will appeal Kouyate’s red card which we believe was a mistake by the referee I think we have a good chance. dg”
