Diangana defended

An Albion supporter has joined the ClaretandHugh website forum on the back of both Slav and Grady Diangana having had such a big Hammers background.

Bought for £18 million by the Baggies Grady has since been missing in games and was dropped yesterday as the Black Country outfit were beaten at Newcastle.

And in a comment on the website forum Peter Elliot believes he understands why the player’s form has dropped and was keen to offer a defence.

He writes: “Albion fan here. For the first few months of Grady’s loan to us last season his form was exceptional.

Then in December 2019 he tore his hamstring just after he had scored in a game against Birmingham City. We tried to bring him back after a few weeks but he broke down again.

When he finally returned he was not the same player some of his pace had gone along with his confidence. Whether fitness doubts were instrumental in West Ham’s decision to sell him I do not know.

At his best Grade is not a luxury payer he has everything its just a shame that a serious injury has stalled his career.”

Claretandhugh says: All good points but one issue remains unanswered in Peter’s summary of Grady’s Albion situation. Given the nasty injury in December and and should Peter be right about a possible injury history, it tends to pile more pressure on Slav with the obvious question entering the Baggies board’s head: “Why did we buy him” We feel for Grady – not happy days for him or his new club.
