Phil Parkes believes Dimi Payet will go to an even higher level when the Hammers make their bow in the Olympic Stadium declaring: “Every match will be an occasion – it will be like a Wembley factor.”

And the former goalkeeper is convinced that the wide open spaces of the London Stadium and a 60,000 capacity crowd will see Dimi really turning on the style big time.

Speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh  Phil said: “It’s a magnificent place. I was there again the other evening for an event and it really is pretty breathtaking .

“I can see Dimitri having a ball and absolutely revelling in the atmoshere just as he did in the summer in France. He’s a big occasion man who can go to an even higher level.”

Parkes believes the lads wil settle quickly into their new surroundings which could hardly be more different to the Boleyn.

Parkesy said:  “It will be a fabulous place to play. I’m sure other clubs will like the idea of playing here but our boys will adapt and I have no doubt our fans will very soon make it home and create a fantastic fearsome atmosphere.

“It will be an interesting adjustment for the players to make but I know they will and this manager of ours will leave nothing to chance. He will know how to gear the boys up to their new situation.”
