West Ham United could make a move to sign Aston Villa ace John McGinn ExWHUemployee claims.

Moyes’ only replacement option in the central midfield is Mark Noble, but he will be playing his final season for the club next campaign.

Ex claimed that the 26-year-old Villains star could be on the Hammers radar ahead of the summer transfer window, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (April 12th):

He said: “Players who Moyes is interested in when he was at the club before…McGinn of Aston Villa. We haven’t made any offers for them. Moyes liked him before and Moyes still likes him. There are realistic expectations that we could go for him.”

McGinn joined Aston Villa for £3.5million from Hibernian back in the Summer of 2018.

However, he is currently valued at around £25 million by https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-mcginn/profil/spieler/193116 and even in a Covid market that sounds about right.

With a striker – or even two required at the London Stadium – McGinn is an interesting proposition but the money issue is again going to be a problem.

Currently the 26 year old has  11 goals and give 19 assists in 103 games to his name but whether Moyes goes for an essentially attacking central midfielder rather than defensive remains to be seen.

He’s a top player for sure but the manager has a tricky job deciding whether he needs more of that with Fornals and hopefully Lingard on board rather than a defensive option.

Villa would undoubtedly drive the hardest of bargains should the Hammers move in although it remains to be seen with Moyes have more of a reputation for reaching into the Championship.

Bargain buys will be very necessary with squad strengthening required so we adopt a wait and see policy on this one.
