Exclusive: Arnautovic gets new secret deal
Claret and Hugh have learned this afternoon that Marko Arnautovic struck a new deal with the club to extend his contract by another twelve months.
We understand the deal – which is thought to include extra financial incentives has a new clause which allows the striker to leave in the Summer transfer window “but only if the club receives a certain transfer offer (thought to be £45m) and by a certain specified date.”
Despite his pledge of loyalty yesterday a senior club insider told Claret and Hugh via email “He’ll go in the Summer if we get a certain transfer fee, by a certain date. We need him badly for the rest of the season. He really wants to go to China as the offer is £295,000 a week after Tax.”
Arnautovic in return has promised to put in maximum effort for the remainder of the season to secure his mega-money move to China. If for whatever reason the price is not met in the summer the striker could potentially remain a West Ham player until June 2023.
