David Gold has tonight declared that Diafra Sakho will remain a West Ham player for the “foreseeable future.”

The co chairman cleared up the incredible rumour mongering surrounding “the move to Rennes that never was” by telling ClaretandHugh exclusively: “I can confirm that Diafra is staying at this club.”

DG – along with ourselves and David Sullivan’s sons Jack and David junior couldn’t have made the position clearer adding: “A number of clubs have shown an interest in Sakho but he is very much part of West Ham’s plans for the season and is staying into the foreseeable future.”

The Sakho saga has dominated the West Ham scene throughout the day after a photo appeared of him apparently arriving in France which was followed by a Sky Sports story that he had passed a medical at Rennes.

ClaretandHugh was told the club had no intention of letting him go given their own shortage of strikers and the bid being derisory.

We have learned that the so called £9 million bid was made up of various add ons and entirely unacceptable.

And since then we have established that as reported by SSN a £10 million bid has been made by Palace but that too has been rejected with another of our sources explaining: “That’s true but he’s going nowhere.”

And Gold’s confirmation now makes it crystal clear that Diafra Sakho has a very important role to play at the club this season.
