David Sullivan has admitted to Claretandhugh that he is approaching our new season with  mixed emotions.

The co-chairman and chief shareholder has – with David Gold – presided over a busy summer transfer window and spent £42 million along the way.

That – according to David Gold – has put us among the top seven spenders in the Premier League but however much a club spends doesn’t remove the fear factor as the first game approaches.

And Sullivan – speaking exclusively to CandH – said: “I’m like every West Ham supporter. At the moment I’m experiencing a mixture of expectation and  fear.”

And he added: It looks to be the  most competitive Premier League of all time. We have improved our squad, but we’ll now have to wait and see.

“Every top manager in the World now seems to be in the PL. The results this weekend were as weird as last season, who saw Hull beating Leicester or Arsenal losing 3-4 at home.”
