Finally it’s over – Payet’s back in France thank goodness. Here’s how ClaretandHugh’s followers have reacted to the treacherous midfielder’s behaviour.

O Let him be gone. I’m not shedding any tears as  we got a fair fee for him. Maybe last summer we could have got more but the situation totally changed.I didnt see too many bashing the doors down with £50 million after the Euros. Hes just a footballer, nothing to get angry about

O YeS good riddance. I  would feel better if there was a backup striker, but otherwise this has been a decent window. You never really know until you see how they settle in, but fingers crossed. I feel we have behaved more like a ‘proper’ club in this window so cheers to the bosses for that.

I heard an ex footballer say that after you retire as a player , one of the great joys is going back to old clubs and talking to fans about their time at the club .
