West Ham are closing in on a club record £40 million for the Brazilian midfielder Felipe Anderson. A senior club source close to the deal told Jason Burt at the Telegraph that it was now “70 per cent” complete and although negotiations with the 25-year-old’s club, Lazio, were dragging the move is understood to be likely to go through now.

Despite the delay, West Ham are confident that Anderson will sign for them with the fee almost twice their previous record which stands at the £22 million they paid for Issa Diop earlier this summer.

Anderson has been in Europe since 2013 when he moved to Lazio from Santos for £6.75 million and has one international cap for Brazil. He has scored 34 goals in 177 appearances for the Serie A club.

Should it get over the line Anderson will become either the fifth or sixth signing of the Summer depending whether  Yarmolenko sign before him. West Ham have already announced the arrivals of Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski and Jack Wilshere.
