Ferdinand tips Rice departure

Rio Ferdinand appears to have little doubt that Declan Rice will soon be on his way from West Ham.

Like most former players who had little time for the media during their playing days Rio finds himself in a somewhat different position now.

And like so many others the more dramatic he can make his pronouncements the more likely he is to keep himself in the public eye.

And of course Declan, and whether he stays or leaves West Ham is an easy hit when it comes to such matters.

It seems the former Hammer now has his own You channel and has been giving his views on what happens next in the life of the young defensive midfielder.

However, it doesn’t take things much further than most others with Rio believing he will eventually move on which in this day and age seems pretty much a given.

Pundit Ferdinand told his FIVE YouTube channel: “I don’t think he goes this window, I think he stays there for the remainder of the season.

“I don’t think he’s the kind of kid who is going to push to leave right now.

“If it happens, it will be between the clubs. I don’t think he’s going to be the person that instigates it.

“I think he’s quite a laid-back kid in that sense but he’s a driven kid. He’s someone who wants to achieve, better himself and improve.

“He’s like a sponge, he asks questions when you speak to him: ‘What was it like in your time?’ He reminds me of myself in that respect.

“He asks questions like, ‘What was he like, training with him?’, and he wants to know everything because he wants to better himself and you can’t fault a kid like that.
