1st Pulis interview: “I’m pleased for Hammers”

West Bromwich Albion boss-in-waiting  Tony Pulis – giving his first interview as the new set to take charge  at the Hawthorns – is looking forward to visiting one of his favourite grounds tomorrow – Upton Park.

Pulis – at one time tipped as a future West Ham boss – speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh said: “The lawyers and club officials are tying up the details and I am very happy with the situation – all is looking good. There should be no snags to the appointment.

“I love West Ham. it’s always a joy visiting the ground …a traditional old ground which has a fantastic atmosphere. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Pulis explained that he will be in the stands tomorrow saying: “I have had no influence over the team for the game at all but I hope the lads will respond to my presence in the stands.”

He believes the transformation in the West Ham team this season is absolutely extraordinary saying: “I’m pleased for the fans, the directors and Sam. He’s done a great job there and I’m pleased for the Hammers.

“It was all gloom and doom last season with the fans up in arms over nearly everything. There was a huge dark cloud over the place.

“But the team have been playing some terrific stuff this season and are a real challenge for any team.

“We’ll have our work cut lout although at the moment my overwhelming feeling is one of relief at being back in work!”
