Local non league club Grays Athletic sent out a cheeky message to West Ham fans encouraging them to support and attend non league football on their terraces without popcorn.

The flyer entitled ‘Football without popcorn’ was to promote the game between Grays Athletic v Lowestoft  held tonight.

The official post on twitter said “Come on you know you want to! Come along and support local non league footy and stand on the terraces at Grays Athletic FC”

The jokey comment was obvious reference that fresh popcorn now sold at West Ham match days at the new London Stadium which many traditional football fans find amusing.

Grays came out 3-0 losers tonight in a game with an official attendance of 170 supporters.

Meanwhile talking of grass roots football, ClaretandHugh are hearing unconfirmed rumours that a former West Ham player who shall remain nameless for now and some West Ham fans are considering forming AFC West Ham. The idea would be similar to F.C. United of Manchester which was formed in opposition to the American takeover in 2005.

We have been told the Old Spotted Dog ground in Forrest Gate used by Clapton FC is being considered as a possibly location should the club be formed. The stadium has a capacity of 2,000 with just 100 of them seated.
