Former Hammer Gokhan Tore will miss the start of the Turkish season due to a worsening injury situation which will keep him out of action with Besiktas for at least another four months.

New cartilage damage has been detected in his right knee and he will now undergo a new operation in Germany with a lengthy recovery period to follow.

He suffered a similar problem with his left knee while on loan at West Ham last season which led to him missing most of the season and having an operation in Germany.

Tore signed on a season-long loan Besiktas for a £2.5 million loan fee with a £10 million buyout clause option.

He previously said an Irons team-mate was responsible for the first injury which ruled him out of action for the season. He claimed the unnamed teammate went in hard on him ahead of the Crystal Palace game causing an injury which required surgery and facilitated his early return to Turkey.

The 25-year-old continued to be paid up to £60,000 per week by West Ham until two weeks ago when his loan finally ended at the end of June.
