Former Hammer finally makes his mark in Germany

However, 2021 has been a breakthrough year for the 22-year-old who has been in the starting line-up in all five games. 

Now the German press is raving about his performances with German media outlet Kicker saying Oxford has made a significant contribution this year and is finally showing his value to the team.
Last year Oxford only made substitute appearances for the German team, if at all. The 22-year-old came from the bench five times, mostly as a reinforcement for the defensive midfield in the closing stages of games when they needed fresh legs. When Heiko Herrlich changed the formation to have three- or five-man defence for the first time in the 1-0 win in Bielefeld in mid-December Oxford showed he could do a very solid job as a right centre-back and has kept that role since the start of the new year.   “Since he was in the starting line-up, he has been playing one outstanding game after the other,” Heiko Herrlich praised Oxford
