MLS club LA Galaxy have today confirmed the signing of former Hammer Javier Hernandez to the United States soccer league.

The 31-year-old Mexican striker had only started nine games for Sevilla since joining last summer, with 14 appearances overall, that translated to a mere 446 minutes of game time with just four goals in all competitions to his name.

Hernandez joined Sevilla from West Ham in September with the Spanish club paying West Ham £7.2 million for the Mexican striker.

Chicharito made 55 appearances for West Ham scoring 16 goals after joining the Hammers from Bayer 04 Leverkusen for £16m

LA Galaxy is reported to have paid Sevilla £7.5m for the striker with the Mexican earning £4.6m per year (£88,500 per week) on a three-year contract.

“I’m going to be able to play in front of a lot of Mexican fans, Galaxy fans, American fans,” Hernández said. “That’s what’s great about football. They give you a lot of opportunities.”
